Before Song Surgeon Version 2.0 Is Available

Projected Launch Date: October 14, 2008

Song Surgeon 2.0 is finally here. It's hard to believe its taken almost a full year to develop and roll out this new version. I'm certain, however, that you will find it was worth the wait.

Since the launch of Song Surgeon, almost a year ago, we have sold thousands of copies in more than 41 countries. It has been much more successful than I have ever imagined!

If you are new to Song Surgeon, I would like to take a minute to tell you about this must-have musicians software. It doesn't matter whether you play guitar, piano, or mandolin. It doesn't matter whether you play rock, jazz, or country. Song Surgeon can help you become a better player.

Song Surgeon enables you to slow down music so you can better hear what is being played. This allows you to accurately determine what notes are being played and how they are being played. After all, if you can't hear what's being played... there is no way you can play it correctly. In fact, survey results from our customers show that Song Surgeon increases your ability to learn a song by an average of 667%.

So you see to speed up your learning, it really does help to slow down the song.

Although slowing down the music is probably the most common usage of Song Surgeon, it is much more than that. Song Surgeon changes the pitch, allows you to create practice loops, switch between the most popular file formats, and adjust the EQ settings of a song or audio file.

So Why is There a Version 2.0 of Song Surgeon?

Well that's easy, because all of you took the time to tell us what you liked about Song Surgeon and what could be improved. We took all (well most) of your suggestions and the result is this new version, which we are really, really excited about.

New Features of Version 2.0

  • Slower tempo reduction, down to 10%
  • Finer Pitch control... one cent increments
  • A vocal reduction techology to dampen vocals
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Zooming capabilities in the loop editor window
  • Ability to change tempo/pitch directly from a CD
  • Autoplay audio on Song select, without opening file
  • French, Spanish, German, and Dutch language versions

As you can see, Song Surgeon Version 2.0 is packed with new features. It's truly an must-have piece of software.

Perhaps the most exciting new feature found on Version 2.0 is the Vocal Reduction. When you can not only slow down a piece of music but reduce the vocals to allow you to more clearly hear the instrumentals -- you have a very powerful tool at your finger tips.

Let me be very clear though... this is a vocal reduction tool, it is not a vocal elimination tool. That's number one. Number two, this feature works with varying degrees of success on different songs. It is a function of how a song is mixed and mastered at the recording studio. On some songs it works extremely well... and on others it won't work nearly as well. Don't get me wrong. I don't want to undervalue this feature... but it is important to me that you understand what you are getting and that it is NOT misrepresented.

I think this new software is fantastic, exactly what I have been looking for. As a new guitar player it is so important to be able to learn how to play along with a song but slow it down to be able to keep up. The slow down tempo feature is a major benefit for people trying to learn how to play guitar and actually play a song. Reducing down the vocals also helps to hear what you are playing then as you get better crank back up the vocals. It looks great and I'd love to win!!! Thanks Tom

I have a Guitar Trainer CD-TK machine which I use to slow down cd's so I can learn the guitar parts faster. Having actual software is a step better. Software loaded into a computer can slow down the music and separate even faster and more efficiently. I don't have to burn a cd of mpg files or audio files so I can learn a lick. I can just load it into the software!

Looks and sounds good, the only other thing that would be good to do...but it will probably come in future release is...be able to cut individual instruments, so that you will clearly hear the licks of the instrument are trying copy only. I know that would be quite a task on your part...But all in all it seems like a pretty robust learning/teaching aid! Thank You

what is the use of you charging for a year of updates when you dont have any, so to me to purchase updates is a wast of money. Also you should give people that have already purchased this program a price reduction (upgrade option).
Previous customers will get either a free upgrade or a significantly reduced. If you purchased upgrade protection, you will get it free...

I have played music before. (In High School) Clarinet and Saxaphone. Now that I am an adult I want to learn the guitar, just to have music in my life again. I have always been the type that would rather play music rather then listen to it on the radio or CD's. I've also always wanted to learn the guitar but with sort of small hands I have always felt it was beyond my reach. I am wishing this program would bring me peace of mind by teaching the basics of playing the guitar.

i'm awed with what i've heard how this software can help you to learn new songs! and learning new songs is ABSOLUTELY NECCESARY in the path of self-improvement for any musician. it could boost inspiration for creativity, finger and timing accuracy in playing, ear training and improvisation (from my personal experience i know what learning a new song WELL can do!). i wish i could get this software for free, since i really don't have the money at the moment, but if i don't, best wishes for the lucky ones.

Hey I play guitar and have used song surgeon to up the EQ to backing tracks, change the key, and as I am involved in the local radio station doing commercials I have used the slow down function to make my voice sound more radio friendly. I use song surgeon at least 3- 4 times a week and it has never let me down. Great software guys, and all my musician friends have gone out and purchased this after seeing what I can do with it. Cheers to all Eddy from down under. : )

Mel Sheridan Says:

I have looked at all the advertisement sent to me on the Song Surgeon and know this is the tool that would help me get over the top in learning those songs for years that I have sung and danced to. I can hear the notes but need to slow them down so I can decipher just how those licks and patterns are put together. And the proper chord arrangement the song really uses. I have played for decades but not sure of alot of the exact arrangements. With putting two kids through college at the same time right now doesn't leave me alot of spending money for myself and wife. So all I can do is hope that when they graduate and I have some spending room that this will be available. Great product you have out there.
1104.
Rudy Says:
October 2nd, 2008 (Thu) at 08:34 pm
Now I can decipher some quick arpeggios that were way too distorted because of how quickly they were played. Some new doors are openning for the beginner...

I know little things about playing the piano and guitar and would want to teach my kids what I know and I'd also like to teach them how to play the violin since we bought one a couple of years ago but have not started since I don't know how to plat it. I know Song Surgeon will be perfect for my goal since I have downloaded samples form the website and believe that with this software (and more value-added features) I can reach that goal not only for me but also for my children. Wow! Imagine me and my kids learning side by side and in the near future playing beautiful music also side by side. Fantastic, Isn't it? Thanks very much.

Song surgeon is an invaluable tool for all musicians, but as a guitarist I think it also a necessary learning tool which allows you to hear exactly what is being played at the speed you choose. I teach guitar and apart from recommending it to my students I also use it to learn pieces I am not familiar with quickly and easily at the correct pitch no matter what the speed, and it's simple to use.

I am sooooooooo excited to register to win this amazing software. I have played with a Tascam 50% speed reduction guitar trainer, and with Windows Media Player features for quite awhile. Neither of these will allow music to be slowed down enough and manipulated, so that the notes can actually be heard, and so that techniques on the guitar can be properly reproduced. I look forward to the release of this version of Song Surgeon. I believe it will do what I need. Yours truly, cab

MUSIC CAN BE COMPLICATED WITH DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME AND WITH VOCALS ON TOP MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO REPRODUCE THE NOTES YOU ARE TRYING TO LEARN. IT MAKES SENSE TO SLOW THE MUSIC DOWN AND LOWER THE VOCAL LEVEL TO ENABLE YOU TO REPRODUCE WHAT YOU HEAR.

I have used something like this in my teaching music - we call it the black box. It is very good for piano students as you can slow down the tempos as in learning new songs and even change the key of the song recorded to whatever you want, and a lot of other functions. It used only MIDIs, so something to update to cds would be wonderful!!!!!

I think this would really help me out. I would really like to learn all the songs that are out there but can't seem to get they notes that are played. I had quit playing for six years when I was younger cause there was 1 person saying that I had missed some notes to a song. I tried to make sure that I had learned the notes correctly, but always missed 1 or 2. I started to play again and had actually joined a band, but they let me go, not for being unable to play the songs, but because of my job as I worked the evening shift. And that was when practice time was in the evening. But with this, I should be able to re-join the band, as a better guitar player and be able to contribute some song to the band sound.

Great software for learning at any level any instrument. Slow the song down to learn those lead riffs, bass line or vocals. Change the pitch to learn the song in any key. Loop just the fast lead licks so you don't have to replay everything. The most valuable time saving learning tool ever. A must for fast learning!

I play piano and guitar, but I think the tool would be more useful for the guitar. I'm glad to hear that you are having so much success with the product. Sorry if you have done it already, but would it be a good idea to put a demo of the product on your website, with audio commentary of what is going on (like a video)? People will then really be able to see why the tool could be useful for them... Good luck with the launch!

Excellent program. I used it to figure out by ear the Ventures "Night Train" instrumental since I could not find any tab for the song. This is the first time I have been able to do this with the help of Song Surgeon. I also use it to change the key of certain songs to match the key our singer uses. So when we get together and jam I have already worked the positons for the chords and lead patterns on the guitar.

I have been trying hard to develop my ears in order to recognise notes and chords by hearing but I am very far from it after almost three years of trial. I hope Song Surgeon will make a difference for me.

What a super feature you've added. Being able to reduce the vocals will make Song Surgeon much more helpful.

I bought a copy of the first version, and loved it. So I would definately like to be able to disco the new updates and put them to good use.

I play flamenco guitar so I learn a lot from recordings. This sounds like it would be a great product because most flamenco nowadays is quite complex and fast.
